Conference on ‘economic, development and socio-cultural linkages’ in South & Central Asia at Jamia

New Delhi: The UGC Central Asia Studies Programme at Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia with support of Indian Council for Social Science Research, New Delhi is going to organize a two-day National Conference on “Economic, Development and Socio-Cultural Linkages”.

This would be the third conference to be held as part of the UGC Central Asia Studies Programme ‘Central Asia and its Neighbourhoods: Past Ties, Future Relations’.

The first conference held in 2010 was on “Perspective on Multiculturalism: Soviet and Post-Soviet Central Asia”. The second was an International one held in 2012 on “The Russian Factor in Central Asian Culture’.

The Inaugural Session of the Conference is scheduled to be held on March 19, 2013 at 10 AM in Ho Chi Minh Conference Room, Academy of International Studies of the university.

Ambassador Bhadrakumar will deliver the key-note address in the Inaugural Session of the Conference while Prof. Hari Vasudevan shall Chair the programme.

The linkages between South Asia and Central Asia are as important in the contemporary context as they were in the past. The proposed conference aims at focusing on the following sub-themes.
Eminent professors and researchers from the country and Central Asian region will present papers.

The Valedictory Address of the Conference will be delivered by Prof. Devendra Kaushik at 4.30 PM. Prof. Warikoo shall Chair the Valedictory session of the Conference.
