International seminar on “Pakistan’s Governance Challenges” at Jamia

New Delhi: The Pakistan Studies Programme at Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize a two-day International Seminar on “Pakistan’s Governance Challenges” on March 21-22, 2013.

The Inaugural Session of the Seminar is scheduled to be held on March 21, 2013 at Ho Chi Minh Conference Room, Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia.

Prof. Ishtiaq Ahmed, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Stockholm University, Sweden will deliver the Keynote Address on this occasion.

Najeeb Jung, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia will chair the programme.

Distinguished national-international faculty members, research scholars of various Universities/Educational Institutions are expected to attend. These include, among others, participants from Sweden, New York, Washington DC, Australia, Pakistan, etc.

The seminar includes the following sub-themes for discussions: Challenges to Democracy, Military and Politics, Ideological and Sectarian Challenges, the Role of Civil Society, Pakistan’s Security Challenges, and Trade and Economy.

On March 22, 2013 at 4.30 PM, there is a Panel Discussion on “Pakistan’s Upcoming General Elections 2013: Significance and Prospects” with i) Philip Oldenburg ii) Moeed Yusuf iii) Babar Sattar and iv) Syed Savail Hussain.
