New Delhi: All India Backward Students Forum (AIBSF) today protested outside the Ministry of Human Resource and Development against non-implementation of OBC reservations while appointing faculties in central universities.
In a memorandum submitted to the MHRD they drew attention to a recent advertisement by Jawaharlal Nehru University inviting applications for the positions of professor and associate professor that has reservations for the Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes, as mandated by the government, but has no reservation for the OBCs.
According to them this not only opposes the public policy of equality in government services but also violates the provisions of Article 16 of the constitution.
“The recruitment process in many central universities do provide reservation at all teaching levels for all social groups including OBCs. Therefore, the caste based exclusion of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in appointment at certain positions by Jawaharlal Nehru University, is not only arbitrary but also against the provisions of Article 14, 15 & 16 of the constitution.”
