Guwahati: Minority Affairs Minister, Dr. K Rehman Khan, had a meeting with the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gagaoi and his entire cabinet on April 2 on the condition of minorities in the state.
Few days back Barpeta M P Ismail Hussain had appealed to the UPA Chairperson to look into the matter as, according to him, Muslim community is deprived in education and health sector in Assam.

Minority Affairs Minister had a threadbare discussion in presence of Chief Minister of Assam with his Cabinet members. They discussed the slow implementation of Prime Minister’s 15 Point Programme and the Multi Sector Development Project in the state.
They also emphasized on the importance of eviction of people illegally occupying wakf property. According to reports, Chief Minister has proposed an IIT in minority dominated district.
Dr Khan has announced setting up 15 it is in 118 Block comprising 13 District dominated by Muslim Community. He also declared that a campus of AMU will be established in Char area.
Later he visited Rangia to understand the progress of construction of Rangia Arabic College. In a meeting at Rangia he declared that a Polytechnic College will be established there.
He emphasized on the speedy implementation of projects related to minorities and argued that it will bring employment opportunities for a section of young people.
He also visited some madrassas to see the ground realities.
In an earlier meeting with Khan’s deputy Ninong Ering, besides Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, ministers like Prithbi Majhi, Rokibul Hussain, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Akon Bora, Nazrul Islam, Pradyut Bordoloi were present there. Chief Secretary Naba Kumar Das was also present in the meeting.
