PFI meets Andhra Home minister, demand suspension of biased police officers

Hyderabad: Popular Front of India State General Secretary Md. Arif Ahmed, State Executive Council Member Hassan Shaik, along with All India Imams Council state general Secretary Mlv Rafeeq Ahmed Rashadee today met Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy at her residence demanding suspension of Nampally PS SHO Sridhar and Central Zone ACP Kamalsen Reddy for their ill treatment with National Secretary and other state leaders of PFI.

They also urged the state home minister to initiate steps to train police officials on how to interact with general public and leaders of civil societies and mass movements.



Earlier, on 1 May, 2013 Seven National and State leaders of Popular Front of India and All India Imams Council including Mohamed ali Jinnah, National Secretary had been detained at Nampally Police Station on Wednesday night, where they had gathered at DM Residence, Nampally for a sent off and felicitation program for Abdul Subhan, who was going to Saudi Arabia for Umra (pilgrimage) as well as to discuss with All India Imams Council State president and General Secretary on providing volunteer support for AIIC’s upcoming campaign against dowry system.

On Thursday, enraged over the mistreatment of National and State leaders, Popular Front cadres rushed to the roads and held massive demonstrations, protests, and blocked road throughout Kurnool, Nellore, and Guntur Districts, and various parts of the state.

The demonstrations were attended by various secular leaders and activists including Srinivasa Rao POP, Jayanna, Advocate Padmaja, Vijayakumar, Y. Koteshwar Rao , and Abdul Waris SDPI unanimously condemned the ill treatment of the national and state leaders of a social organization.

Popular Front State leaders yesterday met Hyderabad city commissioner of police, Anurag Sharma and demanded immediate suspension of the erring and communally biased police officers, Nampally PS SHO, Sridhar and Kamalasan Reddy, DCP Central Zone as well.

Popular front demanded both Home minister and city commissioner to dig out the conspiracy behind the detention of the leaders and also train police officials to be friendly with civil society and how to behave with leaders of mass movements.
