University will soon apply to AICTE for approval. it has also postponed the examinations.

Kolkata: Facing examinations’ boycott and agitation by students, Aliah University has agreed to commence M.Tech course from the 2013-14 academic session itself. The Executive Council of the Aliah University met on May 8 and a notice to this effect was put on the university’s website on May 9.
AU will simultaneously apply to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for approval for the said courses.

To begin B.Ed. courses too the university plans to apply to the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in August later this year.
However, no decision so far has been taken on students’ demand to give separate degrees for graduation and post-graduation courses. AU runs several five years integrated course (BA and MA combined).

After the Executive council meeting of the AU, Register Dr Anwar Hossain met with the agitating students and conveyed the decision of the EC.
From today the university closes for the summer vacation and will reopen only on June 21. The examinations will now be rescheduled after the vacation. Only end-semester examinations of two year M.A/M.Sc will be held on the according to the previously announced schedule.

University authority has also assured the final year students in professional courses that soon the campus placement too would begin and has requested the students to get in touch with the Training & Placement Officer in-charge Bimal Chowdhury.
