Hyderabad: Popular Front of India has condemned the arrest of Professor Jaya Vindhyalaya, AP State President of Peoples Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) on the allegations of posting defamatory information about the ‘Chirala’ MLA on Facebook.
Popular Front’s AP State President DS Habibulla told in a statement that the arrest of Professor Jaya Vindhyalaya is the suppression of her right to freedom of expression of thoughts. He reminded the statement of Prof. Jaya that she had posted the information furnished by a fact finding team of PUCL.
Popular Front has demanded from the State Government to withdraw cases against Prof. Jaya Vidhyalaya and make judicial enquiry about the remarks furnished by the fact finding team of the PUCL.
They also urged the State Human Rights Commission to intervene the matter as the “arrestee is a renowned human rights activist of the state.”
