MBT leader Amjedullah Khan adressing protest meeting
While 8 people died in the bomb attack on the spot on May 18, 2007, nearly 22 more people succumbed to the injuries and other infections later years. However, their death was not treated as a casualty in the terror attack. Amjed Ullah Khan (Corporator) said that the State Government did not provide promised jobs to the families of the victims. Further, nothing was done for those who got permanently disabled due to the blast.
Speaking about the 173 innocent Muslim youth who were wrongly arrested after the blast, MBT leader said that despite being acquitted by the court, the Hyderabad Police continued its harassment and they are being shown as absconding in two other cases. He said National Investigation Agency (NIA) has proved that the members of Abhinav Bharat were responsible for the bomb blast at Mecca Masjid, however innocent Muslim youth are still facing discrimination and harassment by the police and other authorities. Demanding that all cases booked after Bomb Blast attack which are pending against the innocent Muslim youth should be closed, he said the youth and their relatives were finding it impossible to find a suitable job or even get a match for the marriage.
Amjed Ullah Khan (Corporator) also slammed a section of media for trying to link Muslim community with terrorism. He said immediately after every terror attack, some journalists get active in linking the same with the Muslims without having a base. Stating that several individuals with Rashtra Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) mindset have infiltrated in the media, he called upon the managements to take action against such reporters who are resorting to biased and baseless reporting. He said wrong reporting would eventually tarnish the image of the media houses and the society would not appreciate their biased and factually incorrect approach.
MBT leader also demanded setting up of a Special Court to try the Mecca Masjid blast case against the activists of Abhinav Bharat.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Veda Kumar (Vice President) Telangana Praja Front alleged that educated Muslim youth in Telangana region were being subjected to injustice and harassment by the Seema Andhra rulers.
