Faizabad: According to reports, lawyers in Faizabad fatally attacked Advocate Mohammed Saleem, an associate of Advocate Jamal Ahmed, who was lawyer of Khalid Mujahid in Faizabad case.
Speaking to TCN, activist Shah Alam confirmed the news. He informed that Salim is now undergoing medical treatment.
Sources tel TCN that yesterday there was a protest in Faizabad called by ullemas and several civil rights groups against custodial death of Khalid that had attracted over 300 people. Bar Association of Faizabad today passed a resolution against the protest and latter attacked Advocate Saleem.
Khalid Mujahid who was arrested on charges of serial blasts in 2007 died on Saturday while he was returning from Faizabad to Lucknow jail on Saturday. Khalid fainted on way at Barabanki, according to police and was taken to District Hospital, Barabanki where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Rihai Manch has condemned the attack, saying that the administration is siding with the saffron elements to target those who are fighting for the innocents. Speaking to TCN, Rajeev Yadav of Rihai Manch added that even in past lawyers and civil rights activists have been threatened and attacked by the state machinery and the communal forces for taking up the causes of innocents.
Advocate Saleem was later admitted in the District Hospital.
