Lucknow: On the sixth day of the indefinite dharna outside UP Assembly, Rihai Manch (Forum for the Release of Innocent Muslims imprisoned in the name of Terrorism) lambasted those clerics who are trying to act as ‘broker’ on the death of Khalid Mujahid.
Rihai Manch is on indefinite dharna demanding persecution of police officers involved in the custodial death of Khalid Mujahid, tabling of the Nimesh Commission Report and release of Muslim youths languishing in jails in fabricated terror cases.
A delegation of clerics, including Imam Tile wali Masjid, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Waizi and Shaher Qazi Mufti Abul Irfan Miyan Farangi Mahli had met UP CM Akhilesh Yadav at his official residence and submitted a memorandum in this regard on Sunday. Akhilesh had then announced that a compensation of Rs 6 lakhs would be given to the family of Khalid Mujahid and reiterated his commitment to impartial enquiry in Khalid Mujahid’s death.
Spokesperson of the Manch said today that ullemas should refrain from working in connivance with the political class and brokering deal for them, as it presents the clerics in wrong light.
Rihai Manch today returned the gunner, sent for the security of Manch leaders and added that government should immediately act to persecute the 42 police officials against whom FIR has been registered in the death of Khalid.
Representatives of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) are expected to be present tomorrow.
