‘Ouster of Egypt President is big loss to democracy in Arab world’

By TCN News,

New Delhi: Several Muslim bodies have condemend the ouster of Egyptian Presdient Dr Mohammad Morsi.

Jamaat e Islami Chief, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari has termed the sacking of elected democratic government of President Morsi by the Egyptian military as “utterly wrong, illegal, un-Islamic, murder of democracy and conspiracy of anti-Islam internal and external forces.”

Ameer-e Jamaat has appealed to the people of Egypt to think if an elected democratic and constitutional government is better or military regime which is utterly against the requirements of democracy.

The Chairman of Popular Front K M Shareef expressed deep concerns on the ousting of the first democratically elected president of Egypt by the armed forces. “It is a clear truth that this was a coup planned and executed by the military chiefs and Mubarak loyalists who badly missed the feel of power since the ouster of Hosni Mubarak,” he added.

The toppling of President Mohammed Morsi’s government and suspension of the constitution is a setback not just for Egypt but for the democratic process across the Arab world, PFI chairmand further said.

He has urged the Indian Government to put diplomatic pressure on the Egyptian armed forces through internal organization to bring back democracy in Egypt and reinstate Morsi who is the legitimate elected President of Egypt.
