Lucknow: After the ministry expansion of Akhilesh Yadav government Shia cleric Kalbe Jawwad raised the demand for inclusion of Shia MLA in the ministry. The demand was made during a meeting of different anjumans held at Almas Marriage Hall at Hussainabad after the iftar on Thursday.
Akhilesh Yadav inducted four ministers in the ministry expansion on Thursday. None of them was a Muslim. The names include Narad Rai, Kailash Yadav, Ram Murti Verma and Gayatri Prajapati.
The lone Shia MLA Shadab Fatima had been lobbying hard for getting ministerial position. She represents Zahoorabad constituency in Ghazipur.
During the meeting Maulana Kalbe Jawwad expressed concern over non representation of Shia in the government. He claimed that Shia Muslims had supported Samajwadi Party due to which it came in power in the assembly elections. Jawwad claimed Shias are being ignored by the state government.
The Shia Waqf Board is lying defunct. He also stated that a massive campaign will be lauched for mobilising the Shias and Sunnis against Samajwadi Party if it does not fulfills their demands. The campaign will start from coming September.
The main demands including at least two cabinet and three state ministers in the government. Proper representation of Shias in government bodies and allotment of ticket to them for contesting the elections. Reserving a quota of 20 percent for the Shias in the schemes meant for Muslims. Zardozi workers should be paid minimum wages, nomination of Shia in Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh, protection of waqf land and constiution of shia waqf board.
