WPI welcomes the SC judgement on acid attack

By TCN News,

New Delhi: The Welfare Party of India has welcomed the judgment delivered by the bench headed by Justice R M Lodha of the Supreme Court on July 18,2013 to make the 'Acid Attack' a non bail able offence and enhanced the compensation amount to three lakh to the victim and directed all the states and union territories to pay it.

Drawing the attention of both the state and the centre government the Welfare Party of India pointed out at the increasing acid attack on women. It demanded stringent punishment and effective implementation of law.

National Convener WPI, Women Wing Sheema Mohsin applauded the judgement and called it humane. She demanded the perpetrators of the crime must also be made to feel the pinch by paying compensation for their heinous crime apart from the three 3lakh given by the government.

She also demanded acid victims who suffer great pain with their skin tissue and bones melted and eyes reduced to hollow sockets, disfigured and maimed for life be treated as persons with physical disability and should be offered the same benefits that are offered to physically challenged persons such as monthly pensions, concession on public transport and reservations in education and employment.

Sheema Mohsin has demanded from the government, both at the state and centre, to make the country safe for its female citizens.
