Aligarh : Welcoming the decision of the Aligarh Muslim University to make Urdu compulsory in graduation courses, Prof. Razaullah Khan President of Forum for Muslim Studies & Analysis pointed out that knowledge of various language particularly Urdu will strengthen our composite culture and national unity.
He was chairing a joint meeting in Media Centre Aligarh of various organisations to analyse the fallout of making Urdu compulsory in Aligarh Muslim University. Jasim Mohammad Secretary of Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) pointed out the Urdu is an Indian language and the BJP is opposing it with biased approach as it believed only in saffron culture of composite culture.
Prof. Zakia A. Siddiqi Secretary, Female Education Association said that three language formula was the base of our whole educational system and compulsory Urdu will bring all students into mainstream. Prof. Syed Iqbal Ali, Secretary of Hazrat Ameer Khusro Education Society said that, “in fact it should be ensured before recruitment in AMU that the employees know Urdu as is provision in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Several scholars and teachers were present in the meeting.
