Two-Day North East film festival called “First Cut” at Jamia

New Delhi: The Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with AJK Mass Communication Research Centre is going to organize a two-day North East Film festival called “First Cut” which will be followed by a Panel Discussion on ‘Our Films, Their Films’ on August 16 & 17, 2013.

The film festival shall be formally inaugurated by Prof. S.M. Sajid, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia on August 16, 2013 at 10.30 AM in Tagore Hall, Administrative Block, Jamia Millia Islamia.

Following are the details of the films to be screened in the Film Festival:

August 16, 2013 from 10.45 onwards

1) ‘Where There are No Roads’ directed by Maulee Senapati,
2) ‘Children of the River: The Xihus of Assam’ directed by Maulee Senapati
3) ‘A Measure of Impunity’ directed by Maulee Senapati
4) ‘Revelation’ directed by Neikolie Koutsu
5) MCRC film on the Nagas directed by Yirmiyan Arthur
6) ‘Mayong’ directed by Utpal Borpujari

August 17, 2013 from 10 AM onwards

1) ‘19/87' directed by Wanphrang Diengdoh
2) ‘The Green Army: Saviour of the Sylvan’ directed by Merajur Rahman Baruah
3) ‘The Macabre Dance’ directed by Merajur Rahman Baruah
4) ‘The Nine Months’ directed by Merajur Rahman Baruah

The Panel Discussion will be held on August 17, 2013 at 2.15 PM on “Our Films, Their Films” with Maulee Senapati, Sanjoy Hazarika, Utpal Borpujari, Yirmiyan Arthur, Neikoie Kuotsu, Shubhra Gupta and MCRC faculty members followed by an interaction with the participants.

The festival will come to an end at 4 PM with concluding remarks by Prof. Sanjoy Hazarika.
