Guwahati: Gauhati Medical college Students’ Union organised a blood donation camp on Tuesday where 150 undergraduate MBBS students of GMCH donated blood in mobile blood van parked in front of Hostel No 1 of GMCH.
The camp was organised with with the theme 'Save life, Donate blood' like previous years.
This blood would be stored in GMCH’s state of art blood bank for the use of patients admitted in the GMCH at free of cost.

The camp began at 10 am in front of Hostel No 1 of GMCH with keynote address by President of GMCSU Bijit Saikia regarding aim and objective of this camp with the importance of donating blood followed by donation of blood by undergraduate, post graduate students and faculty members of GMCH, setting an example.
They tried to dispepl the confusions regarding blood donation. It is a simple process requiring hardly 10 minutes which all healthy adult people with weight more than 45 KG and hemoglobin more than 12.50 g/dl of blood can give, which need to be popularized.
A packet of lunch was provided to all donors of blood. The camp was held upto 5 pm with huge success and co-operation of all students and faculties of GMCH.

GMCH Blood bank authority welcomed the move ad urged the people to volunatarily donate blood on any day at the GMCH Blood bank.
The organisers were also thankful to the Principal cum chief Superitendent Dr K. C. Saikia , Superintent R. Talukdar, Blood Bank Medical Officer Dr Kumar Partha Patim and Dr Priyank Sharma, PGT, Department of Pathology, GMCH.
