Hakim Abdul Qavi Khan passes away

Aligarh: Hakim Abdul Qavi Khan, former Aligarh Muslim University faculty, and reputed Unani physician passed away on Sunday, August 25.

Hakim Abdul Qavi Khan, born on 20 May 1926, belonged to a family of Unani physicians from Shahjahanpur. His grandfather Hakim Abdul Qadir Khan was Afsar al-Attiba, Bhopal State during the era of Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum. His cousin Hakim Abdul Muqtadir Khan was also Afsar al-Attiba at Bhopal State.

He was a student of BUMS 1946 batch and was later on appointed as lecturer at the Department of Ilmul Advia from where he retired in 1986. After retirement, his services were hired as a consultant (Unani) at Dawakhana Tibbiya College.

Hakim Abdul Qavi Khan is survived by his wife and one sonFaisal and two daughters Darakhshan and Afshan.

Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman, President Ibn Sina Academy and former colleague of Hakim Abdul Qavi Khan, expressed his condolence, adding that he shares the grief with the family members.

He was buried on Sunday itself, after which a small condolence meeting was held. The condolence meeting was attended by Dr. Abdul Latif (Associate Professor, Ilmul Advia), Dr. Abdur Rauf (Assistant Professor, Ilmul Advia), Mr. Mohd Nafees, Dr. Tassawwer Hussain, Dr. Masroor Ahmad, Dr. Mohd. Rizwan, Dr. Yasir Alvi, Dr. S. Ziaur Rahman, Mr. Zahoor Mohammad and Mr. S. Zahid Jamal.
