Aligarh: There is difference is beef (गोमांस) and buffalo meat but when media particularly print media covers any incident related with meat, it after uses the term beef without conformation said Jasim Mohammad, Secretary General of the Muslim Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI). MCCI has sent an open letter to Justice Markandey Katju Chairman, Press Council of India urging him to issue guidelines to the media for desisting from using terminology of beef without confirmation.
The MCCI has pointed out in its petition that Aligarh is a big producer of buffalo meat and some elements have tried to stop the meat trade for gaining political mileage and they claim any meat as beef and the media particularly local media mention is us such.

He said that we respect religious sentiments associated with beef or law but cannot ignore the uncalled for interference of communal elements in the trade which is contributing in nation building by way of foreign exchange.
