New Delhi: Popular Front Chairman K M Shareef and General Secretary OMA Salam met with the Chairman of National Commission for Minorities Wajahat Habibullah and with the National Human Rights Commission Chairman K G Balakrishnan here in New Delhi today.
The meeting held immediately after the leaders’ visit to the villages where the victims of Muzaffarnagar riots are sheltered. Wajahat Habeebulla told the leaders that the commission was already involved in the issue and had written a letter to the Central Government. KM Shareef submitted a memorandum demanding justice to the victims of the riot. He has sought a thorough investigation in to the factors that led to the wide spread violence in Muzaffarnagar and surrounding regions.
K.M. Shareef also submitted a memorandum to Justice KG Balakrishnan, who during their discussion told the leaders that a team of National Human Rights Commission will be set to visit the victims for a hearing. Shri Balakarishnan has also promised substantial intervention in the cases of Human rights violations.
