Hyderabad: A delegation of Muslim religious leaders under the banner of United Muslim Action Committee met the Governor of Andhra Pradesh ESL Narshimam and protested against what they call revenge mentality of state Government against Majlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen leaders.
The delegation under the headship of Abdul Raheem Qureshi (Assistant general secretary of AIMPLB and convener of UMAC) raised the issue of unwarranted action against MIM leaders, which they observe as vindictive politics of state congress Government.
The delegation consisted of Moulana Akbar Nizamuddin Sabri (Aamir Jamia Nizamia), Moulana Syed Khobool Badshah (secretary Majlis ulema deccan), Moulana Hassamuddin Jaffar pasha (Aamir Millat-e-Islamia), Raheemuddin Ansari (general secretary UMAC), and MIM MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan.
Speaking to the press outside Raj Bhavan, Abdul Raheem Qureshi said that delegation informed Andhra Pradesh Governor that action against MIM leaders especially Owaisi brothers has surpassed the process of law and justice.
Abdul Raheem Qureshi said that the delegation raised their protest for slapping harsh IPC sections against MIM leaders for their speeches, while other Hindutva leaders are roaming free in the country spreading venom against Muslims since decades. He gave the example of Sadhvi Rithambara, Subramaniam Swami, Parveen Togadia, Swami Mithranand, and scores of others who are busy in propagating hatred against Muslims but never been tried in the court of law.
Raheem Qureshi also said that state Congress Government is targeting MIM leaders because they have withdrawn their support due to the anti-people policies of the state. He gave the example of Asaduddin Owaisi’s arrest in an eight year old case. Where a Member of Parliament is being denied bail continuously in a minor assault case.
Qureshi also quoted a report published in the Times of India which stated that Chief Minister has given directions to the state police officials to dig out cases against MIM public representatives and arrest them in non-bailable warrants.
The delegation urged Governor to uphold the rule of law in the state which according to them is being crushed down to give a space for politics of revenge and Vendetta. Governor has assured the delegation of UMAC that he will look into the matter.
