WPI organises rally in Kolkata to make WB ‘liquor free’

Kolkata: The West Bengal unit of Welfare Party of India held a rally in Kolkata on December 2 to demand CBI enquiry of the death of social activist Aktar Hossain, who was leading a campaign against alcohol factory at Samsherganj of Murshidabad district.

Speaking on the occasion State President of WPI Dr Raisuddin said that Akhtar was working at grass root for making people aware about ill effects of alcohol and hence vested interests got him eliminated.



He said that liquor is prohibited in Islam as it leads to several evil deeds and we should refrain from it.

A charter of demands was later read at the convention



Mohammad Jalaluddin, Women wing of WPI Shajadi Parvin, Editor of the Bengali Weekly Dr Masiur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
