Lucknow: Leadership of All India Ulama & Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) is campaigning vigorously to make the Sunni Conference planned on December 15th, 2013 at Jagdishpur (Amethi) to be a success.
Maulana Syed Mohammad Ashraf Kichhouchhwi of Kichhocha Sharif, who is the General Secretary of AIUMB is personally making rounds of various places in UP to rally people for the conference. AIUMB has been lobbying since its formation to get more Barelvi Muslims into government appointed positions of waqfs and Hajj committees. Amethi is the political constituency of Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary of All India Congress Committee and the Conference can be seen as a political show of strength.

According to AIUMB, conference will focus on “ways to counter the Saudi/Wahabi extremism on Indian soil and also means to ensure they are seen in true perspective by the political class, administration and bureaucracy, where they have faked themselves through a well constructed agenda as true representatives of the community.”
Heads of all the member Khanqwahs, Aastanas and Dargahs will attend and take part in the deliberations. Some prominent Khaqwahs Aastanas and Dargahs will attend the conference in observer capacity.
