New Delhi: Aligarh based Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) held a Hunkar Dharna at Jantar Mantar demanding equity and empowerment for Muslims.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Razaullah Khan of AMU said that India is a secular country but some political parties are using communalism to consolidate their vote banks and riots occur on regular basis. He said that to contain communalism and riots, Anti Communal Violence Bill should be passed by parliament in its original form without any amendment.

MBMC Secretary Jasim Mohammad demanded that the Aligarh Muslim University be declared a minority institution without further delay in the winter session itself. He said that the AMU was established by Sir Syed for promotion of education among Indian Muslims and it is very unfortunate that the Central government has not declared AMU as a minority educational institution despite demands of Muslims.

Hafiz Abdul Qayyum spoke about the neglect of the Urdu language.

Biju Nayak of Lok-Raj Sagathan, Delhi said that whole system of governance has cracked and in the present system we cannot get justice. He said that we have to change the system which is not possible without unity of marginalized sections.

Mohammad Aslam Khan, former Secretary of AMUSU Said that UPA government itself had appointed Sachar Committee but failed to implement its recommendations and that is injustice.

MBMC took out a protest march from Jnatar Mantar to Parliament House raising the demands for the empowerment of the Muslims. At the end, a memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office on behalf of the MBMC.
