New Delhi: After distributing over 3500 blankets to 12 camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts. Blanket of Hope now intends to turn its attention towards the children of Muzaffarnagar.
As per estimates, there are well over 8,000 children in various camps across Muzaffarnagar & Shamli districts, majority of who are in the age group of 1-5 and 6-14years. Most of these children are in a very impressionable and vulnerable stage.

They have been reeling under a massive tragedy and are carrying the unsealed wounds of victimization.
It is essential that these young kids are engaged in constructive activities like Sports & Learning before their sense of unhealed victimization drives them to a path of dark choices.
But we have found that there are no arrangements available at the relief camps for these kids to learn and play.
It is in direction that Blanket of Hope has announced the launch of ‘SportsforHope’ campaign
“Through this campaign we will rebuild lives education and sports as we intend to take life lessons, secular education, basic English and sporting spirit to these young kids in the camps by organising interactive classes,” says Shehzad Poonawala, who organized Blanket of Hope.
“This is an initiative to give hope to the kids and give them a new direction and secure their future in life. Through sports we will help them forget what they witnessed in Muzaffarnagar and regain their childhood,” he added.
Shahzad Poonawala has appealed to the contributors not to contribute in cash but in kind.
You can send sports materials, cricket kits, badminton kits, footballs, handballs, colouring books,” the appeal by Shahzad Poonawala reads.

“Training Learning material for children between ages 1-10, shoes and sweaters for kids between 0-5 or 6-14, paint brushes and colours with paper, notebooks and pens/pencils and educational toys,” it further reads.
Along with that the appeal invites youth volunteers from all parts of the city to be a part of this campaign. It has also appealed that sports teachers are free to accompany SportsforHope campaign.
