Abu Dhabi: Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni, UAE got together to celebrate the birth anniversary of one of the founders of the University Maulana Mohamad Ali Jauhar and hosted the Foundation Day dinner at Abu Dhabi on January 17.
The event was presided over by TP Seetharam, Indian Ambassador to the UAE and his wife. Dignitaries like Shazia Ilmi, Spokesperson of the Aam Admi Party and Kunwar Danish Ali, All India general Secretary of Janata Dal (S).
It was JMI Alumni's first event in Abu Dhabi, however this group was active in arranging this annual event for last 20 years in other Emirates.
The event was inaugurated by Nadeem Hasan and Nadeem Zaidi who welcomed the Chief Guest and other guest of honours. Parvez Siddiqui, in his welcome address, spoke on the history of the University and its illustrious alumni in different fields.
The gathering was also addressed by Ms Shazia Ilmi and Kunwar Danish Ali wherein they talked about their days in the university and how the university has given them a platform to be able to reach at a level where they can contribute to the society at large and the university along with it.
This was Ambassador TP Seetharam’s first public event as Ambassador to UAE.
About 300 JMI alumni and their family members attended the programme.
