The notice which was served to Owaisis at his residence on Wednesday evening was addressed directly by Aurangabad police commissioner Sanjay Kumar.
The notice served to Assaduddin Owaisi reads, “I was informed that you have decided to visit Aurangabad and participate in a meeting and address gatherings of Muslims community on January 31 and February 1 at Aurangabad. Considering the offences registered against you in Hyderabad and Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, it seems that you tend to ignore directions of the police and civil authorities and violate prohibitory orders.”
Police commissioner Sanjay Kumar in his notice reminded Asaduddin Owaisi of the fragile communal peace of Aurangabad and how last year clashes erupted among both communities on petty issues like, Facebook posts, and inter-religious marriage.
“Aurangabad City is communally sensitive city and communal tranquility of the city is very fragile. The city in the past had witnessed many communal tension and riot between Hindu and Muslim community. Your visit in present situation to the Aurangabad city and participation in any sort of meeting or gathering will create disturbance of public safety, peace and tranquility of the city. It may lead to communal tension and riot between the two communities,” Aurangabad police commissioner stated in the notice.
Aurangabad police observed that the “Speech of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, which is in wide circulation through social media among the youth of both the community, has created communal tension and unrest among Hindu community of Aurangabad city. The AIMIM has so far not condemned the contentious speech of MIM's MLA, giving the feeling that AIMIM leadership endorses the view of Akbaruddin Owaisi.”
Reacting to the notice issued by Aurangabad police Asauddin Owaisi speaking to the media at his residence said police and congress government is trying to curb his voice.
Owaisi also condemned Auranagabad police statement on his brother Akabruddin Owaisi speech and the allegations that he ignores police and civil authority’s orders. Mr. Owaisi said, “It is a general things that cases are booked against politicians on different occasions, I was never being booked in a case for any personal offence, nor did I ever tried to disrespect, tend to ignore or violated orders of any police or civil authorities. The cases registered against me in Andhra Pardesh have nothing to do with breaking police orders in Aurangabad.
He also added, “Why should I or the other leaders of MIM condemned Akbaruddin owaisi’s speech the matter here is sub judice, it has to be decided by the courts, police cannot give their judgment.”
Asaduddin Owaisi also stated that his fundamental right of freedom of expression is being curtailed on unjustifiable grounds. He said as a parliamentarian he has a right to travel anywhere in the country and raise his voice any injustice. Mr. Owaisi said, “I am an Indian and I have full faith on democracy and our judiciary. Our constitution permits me to raise my voice and I will not remain silent. I will visit not only Aurangabad, but entire Maharashtra.”
MIM has meanwhile decided to move to Maharashtra High court against the orders of Aurangabad police of not allowing party to hold public meeting and baring party President Asaduddin Owai from even entering in the city.
