Bangalore: In a major setback to notorious Central Crime Branch of Karnataka police, NIA court on Thursday granted bail to DRDO scientist Aijaz Ahmed Mirza in Terror Assassination conspiracy case.

Defense counsel of Aijaz Ahmed, Akmal Rizvi secretary of Association for the Protection of Civil Rights moved a bail petition in the NIA court on Wednesday contending that NIA failed in their statutory obligation of filing charge sheet in 180 days prescribed time.

On the other hand NIA pleaded for more time to frame charges against Aijaz Ahmed, and another accused Syed Tanzeem. NIA court accepting the argument of defense granted bail to Aijaz Ahmed Mirza.

Karnataka Crime Branch and Hyderabad police in August last year arrested 15 Muslim youths of professional background for a conspiracy to assassinate right wing Hindu journalists. Later the case was deemed as terrorism case, and all the arrested Muslim youths were accused of being members of Harkatul-ul-Jihad-e-Islami. Thus case was handed over to NIA, premier terror cases investigation agency of India.

Moreover this week two youths Mutti-ur-Rehman Siddiqui journalist with Deccan Herald, and Yusuf Nalaband were released by the court as NIA failed to put any charges against them both. Aijaz Ahmed is expected to be released on Friday.

Now the release of DRDO scientist Aijaz Ahmed comes as one more big jolt to Karnataka and Hyderabad police which tried their best to cook a conspiracy case against innocent Muslim youths.
