Lucknow: Sunni Majlis-e-Amal, a Lucknow based Muslim group today organized a condolence gathering at Shahid Smarak with the recitation of Quran by Hafiz and visitors for giving tribute to martyr Deputy SP Zia-ul Haq of Deoria, Pratapgarh.
On 2 March, 2013, Saturday DSP Zia-ul Haq was murdered allegedly by the goons of Raghuraj Pratap Singh aka Raja Bhaiya.
The president of Sunni Majlis-e-Amal, Maulana Abdul Vali Farooqui said, “It is not the murder of only a Muslim officer, it is a murder of whole humanity”.
He added, “UP government should protect every citizen as law and order situation nowadays is worse particularly for Muslims. Government should punish each and every person involved in the murder without being biased of the position of the criminal”.
The Vice-President of Sunni Majlis-e-Amal also appealed, “All the clerics and Muslim community should stand against it and if government is not able to protect their policemen then how safe are the common people”.
By accepting the CBI probe by government in the case Majlis-e-Amal proposed five points to work on Martryr Zia-ul Haq’s family should get at least a crore, full protection, all the criminals involved should be punished harshly and case should run in the fast track court, those policemen who left DSP striving with life on the spot to be detained and inquiry should be imposed on them.
In this event some social workers, like Aqeel Choudhry also echoed the same with the other members of the organization.
Some prominent members of Sunni Majlis-e-Amal, who were present, were Dr. Salman Khalid, Mohd. Farooq, Zafar Kanpuri, Yasir Islam, Mohd. Khalil Shabbu, Qari Mohammad Dawood and Ghulam Ali.
