Hyderabad: The corruptions and kickbacks allegations over Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh have raised serious concerns. It has also brought to light the shady nature of conduct by the state government in allotting natural resources projects.
Mohd Rahmath State Secretary, Welfare Party of India Andhra Pradesh in his press statement said that Polavaram dam project has resulted in the displacement of millions of people as it happened in the earlier projects across the country.
While the Andhra Pradesh state government is still unclear about the proper rehabilitation of the affected masses.
WPI also stated that the tender, which is given to a naïve foreign company named Transstroy, is again the violation of the rule set by the procedure of law on allocating the tenders to such costly and high-risk projects.
According to WPI, Transstroy has no experience of constructing the dams in India and the state government’s sanction to the above said company creates a suspicion among the people of the state.
WPI challenged state Govt. decision which according to them is immature in nature.
WPI A.P. state secretary has demanded from the state government to clarify the allegations made on the tender process over the Polavaram project. He also demanded that Government should brief on the progress of the rehabilitation project for the affected people.
