National seminar on ‘Sufism in contemporary India’

New Delhi: Dr. K.R. Narayanan Centre for Dalit and Minorities Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with New Age Islam Foundation, is going to organize a two-day national seminar on “Sufism in Contemporary India: An Inclusive Framework” on March 13-14, 2013.

The Inaugural Session of the Seminar is scheduled to be held on March 13, 2013 at 11.30 AM in Edward Said Hall of the university.

Prof. Iqtidar Husain Siddiqi, historian, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh will deliver the inaugural address while Prof. Syed Liyaqat Hussain Moini, of the AMU will deliver the keynote address on this occasion.

Syed Shahid Mahdi, former Vice-President, ICCR will attend the Inaugural Session of the Seminar as Chief Guest. Vice-Chancellor of the university Najeeb Jung will chair the inaugural session.

The two day seminar will explore the historical aspect of Sufism, Sufi activism, Sufi literature and regional impact and contemporary relevance in India.
