Hyderabad: Akbaruddin Owaisi has filed a writ petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court to quash all the cases booked against him in different police stations concerning his alleged hate speech’ at Nizamabad and Nirmal town.
In the petition Owaisi has claimed that the alleged hate statements referred to him in the Youtube are false, and they have not been seen in the proper context of his hour long speech. He thus claimed that cases booked against him on the basis of those Youtube clips are unjust.
High Court has admitted his writ petition, and hearing on it will begin day after tomorrow. It is believed to be a tactic of Owaisi to evade the arrest and buy some more time.
In the petition Akbaruddin has also requested the High Court to give directions to the police to refrain from arresting him, till the petition is decided.
It comes in the wake of his skipping scheduled police deposition and demanding four more days to present himself before the Investigation Officer. But the state police, which is under immense pressure from all quarters, is tight lipped in granting him the grace period.
This has led to the overwhelming belief that he may be arrested as he was booked under sec 121 of the IPC (waging war against the state) in one case at Nirmal police station in which he was scheduled for deposition today.
Meanwhile, another public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the High Court to remove his speeches from google and youtube.
