Jamia and Strasbourg University, jointly organize journalism teaching workshop

New Delhi: The Centre universitaire d’enseignement du journalisme (CUEJ –Strasbourg University), France and MA Convergent Journalism programme at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Milia Islamia are jointly organizing a practical journalism teaching workshop in India from 2 May to 30 May 2013.

Around 45 students and 8 faculty members from CUEJ reached India on 2 May for the workshop. The French and Indian students and faculty members will work together to produce print magazines, television programmes and multimedia documentaries. By the end of the workshop, CUEJ and AJK MCRC students will together produce 1000 copies of News d’Ill, a print magazine. The online and television teams will produce documentaries on their chosen medium.

The workshop started with a two day introductory conference. Ms.Kavita Krishnan, Mr.Rajesh Kumar Mahaprata, Mr.Nisar Khan, Mr.Ramesh Menon, Mr.Ankit Pogula and Ms.Saumya Verma delivered lectures on key social and economic issues.

Both CUEJ and AJK MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia offer professional master degrees in Journalism. When it came into existence in 1958, CUEJ was the first journalism training site located in a French university. AJK Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia was established on 1982 by A.J.Kidwai in collaboration with York University, Toronto and the Canadian International Development Aid Agency.

The centre is among the top filmmaking and journalism training centres in India. MA Convergent Journalism programme at AJK MCRC trains students in print, radio, television and online media.

The journalism programmes at both CUEJ and AJK MCRC stress on international exposure. CUEJ takes students on a one month field trip to a foriegn country to produce print, online, and television stories. MA Convergent programme at AJK MCRC conducts yearly workshops by international experts on various media. AJK MCRC also has a student exchange programme with Sciences Po University, Paris.
