Mumbai: A Rs.10 crore defamation suit has been filed against the Mumbai Police by Jamaat e islami hind and Girls Islamic organisation (GIO), girls’ wing of JIH on Tuesday for issuing slanderous circular in Bombay High Court.
In April, earlier this year, an internal circular of Mumbai Police, had surfaced in the media, that had hinted at alleged suspicious activities of GIO. This had irked not only GIO cadres, but Muslim leaders at large, particularly the JIH as they saw it as an attempt of ‘witch hunting’.
JIH will today hold a press conference at 4 PM in Mumbai in this regard.
