Hyderabad: Popular Front of India has strongly condemned the Andhra Pradesh police action against the leaders of Majlis-e- Itehadul Muslimeen and termed the prosecution of MIM leaders as revenge politics of state Congress Government. PFI has demanded that state government should immediately withdraw cases against MIM leaders.
PFI, in its press statement stated that they believe Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh is working hand in glove with the communal elements as a partner in their political designs.
Protesting against the Government’s double standards of hate speech prosecution PFI said, “The Government is targeting Muslim leaders for making hate speeches while Hindutva leaders are left free to give highly provocative speeches ridiculing Indian constitution and challenging governments established by law. Sangh Parivar leaders like Praveen Togadia (VHP president), Swami Kamlananda Bharati (who gave hate speech against Muslims and released on bail easily) and Kishan Reddy (BJP state president) are known to have made highly inflammable speeches but the police seldom take action against them.”
PFI also alleged that recently a Congress MLA who is also a cabinet Minister has asked the police to kill an IAS officer in a fake encounter. But no action was taken against him.
PFI observed that it is crystal clear that the Government is harassing the Owaisi brothers as a part of their political game. PFI believe that Government is trying to put pressure on MIM out of vindictiveness due to the possible alliance of MIM with YSR Congress and its withdrawal of support to the state congress Government.
Popular front of India (Andhra Pradesh chapter) has appealed to the Andhra Pradesh Governor Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan to instruct the state congress Government to desist from hate politics.
