Hyderabad: Welfare party of India has demanded that the Central Government should immediately resolve the lingering dispute of Telangana statehood by accepting the genuine and popular demands of people of Telangana.
WPI Andhra Pradesh secretary Syed Shafiullah Qadari, in a press statement, said that demands of separate Telangana state has been echoing since Central Government formed the tate of Andhra Pradesh neglecting recommendations made by Fazal Ali commission.
WPI in its statement observed that “Since the formation of Andhra Pradesh Telanagana region is being neglected in every aspect of development which has made many districts of the region getting counted in the most backward districts of the nation.”
WPI also stated, “Telangana in its culture, tradition and language is much different from rest of Andhra Pardesh as the region was under the Muslim cultural influence for quite some time whose traits can still be found in Telangana traditions.”
WPI said there have been enormous protests, strikes and even suicides for the cause of the separate state, but central Government is still acting as a mute spectator. WPI alleged that when central Government announced formation for separate Telangana state, it didn’t get down well with the settled capitalists of the region. Who in turned pressurized the central Government to put the issue in cold storage.
WPI in its statement said that they fully support demand for separate Telangana state and perceive Telangana issue not in a regional context but as a matter of rights of the people of the region. WPI warned the Congress government that they should accept the genuine demands of the people of Telangana, otherwise Congress will be rooted out of the state in the next elections.
