UP CM refrains from announcing major schemes for the minority in new budget

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav refrained from announcing any major schemes for the minority community in the budget for 2013-14 presented on Tuesday. The budget size is nearly Rs 2.21 lakh crores but the minorities have been let down in the second budget by Akhilesh Yadav.

As per the budget document, multipurpose educational hub will be set up for the minorities at district level. In these hubs, arrangement of education will be made from Class VI to XII. The scheme has been given a budgetary allocation of Rs 34 crores. In these hubs there will be facility for coaching of medical and engineering entrance examinations.

Another budgetary allocation of Rs 492 crores for filling the critical gaps in minorities dominated areas has been made by CM Akhilesh Yadav. For the scheme Hamari Beti Uska Kal where one time financial assistance of Rs 30000 is given to the girl after clearing high school for higher studies or marriage, a sum of Rs 350 crores has been earmarked. For constructing the boundary wall of qabristans, a sum of Rs 300 crores has been allocated.

For the urban poors including minorities, the dwelling scheme Aasra has been given Rs 400 crores which is Rs 300 crores more than previous year. For construction of CC roads, interlocking tiles, drain, water sanitation etc facilities in minorities dominated areas a provision of Rs 375 crores has been made. A library and auditorium will be constructed in Ghazipur in the name of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. For the fee reimbursement of minority students a sum of Rs 777 crores has been given while another Rs 200 crores has been given for teaching of modern subjects in madarsas.
